To be able to visit De Bastei during this corona time, you have to buy an e-ticket. This way you are assured of a safe visit to the exhibitions in our beautiful building.

It is mandatory to reserve a ticket in advance. De Bastei works with time slots: a maximum of 20 visitors are allowed in every hour. These time slots only apply to the moment of entry; you do not have to leave the museum within an hour.

Visitors who are less mobile are advised to contact De Bastei by phone at 024-3297070 before their visit.

Corona measures

We can open the doors again and share our beautiful museum with you! We receive you with necessary measures due to the containment of the coronavirus. De Bastei follows the RIVM guidelines and applies additional hygiene measures.

De Bastei temporarily closed

16 March 2020

Museum De Bastei is closed to the public until June 1st. This precaution has been taken in line with the national policy on the corona virus. We hope to see you again soon!

Discover De Bastei!

De Bastei tells the story of the river. Here, on the Waal and in the oldest city of the Netherlands, you touch the past, you discover the flora and fauna of the Gelderland river area and you also get to work yourself.

The core of De Bastei is the 16th-century Stratemakerstoren. This defense work - type of bastei - with a corridor and casemates has been integrated into the new museum building.

Food & drinks

A visit to De Bastei is not complete without having been to our restaurant. It is located on the top floor and has the best view of Nijmegen. The people of DREAM! the Bastei serve delicious coffee with their famous apple pie. The menu also includes delicious sandwiches and freshly made home-made soup. No time for the museum? Even then you are welcome to come in!
